It's extremely obvious to any (even) semi-professional in ITB production that the glaring omission of RE's packaged along with other formats is nothing short of "suspect", at the very very least, my friend. Softube are simply too rigid and charge too much for their products. I also can bet that if you contacted them about needing a crossgrade discount, you'd likely have some good luck. They're bringing quality to the table despite it being an uphill battle. That's the reason I support Kuassa so much. Meaning, if it's costing too much to dev RE's, coupled with the limited amount of exposure a dev would receive, further coupled by a hampered SDK and a +30% tax on your device, it's quite obvious why we don't see any major VST developers on board with RE. If it doesn't pencil out, it doesn't pencil out. If the problem lies with man-hours because of a difficult to deal with SDK, along with the % that Props takes for RE placement on the internet and for having it in their "shop", that should immediately say to anyone without extremely blind product loyalty to wonder what gives.

You cannot convince any working professional ITB producer that the fact RE's aren't included along with other formats is a good thing, nor does it make the RE format look good. It's not remotely "endearing" to try and buy one of their very expensive products without hope of getting it in all the formats you need. I own the Cl 1b Compressor from Softube in VST form. Especially when talking about Softube, some of the most expensive plug-ins ever. The reality is that yes = It's "suspect" at the very least how RE isn't ever packaged along with other formats.

(You're also comparing what goes on with Iphone and Android apps as if that's remotely close to what goes on in the world of ITB plug-ins = they're not similar) You're doing an amazing amount of damage control here, and that's to be expected, but it's not grounded in reality. Which brings me back to the first point-being open and honest about sale/crossgrade policies. I know this sale stuff isn't the same as crossgrade discount codes, but just shows as an example how it's hard to know if a developer is knowledgable or just trying to dodge something. Cakewalk was nice and helpful, but simply they were confused. Of course they couldn't because Cakewalk has to handle that. They initially told me to contact Propellerhead and they would be able to do a price match to CA-2A. It took a lot of bugging different people before they were able to track down who it was that could place RE-2A on sale. I had a similar interaction with Cakewalk during one of their big sales asking if RE-2A would go on sale as well.

This time, since the shop seemed to receive an update that allows developers to more easily set sale prices/dates, I informed them of that. And most recently they had another sale, I contacted them again and they told me the same answer. I let them know that developers do so by temporarily changing the price. Right?ĭuring one of Sugarbytes "everything is on sale" sales, I asked if they would be placing their REs on sale and they replied that it wasn't possible to place something on sale in the shop. To make sure the left hand is talking to the right and "is it possible or not?" Because right now it could sound like Softube would offer the discount if they only knew how. They don't necessarily need to say why, but no need for them to point the finger at Propellerhead and say, "They sell it, and it's not possible." Pretty much saying, "Bug them." Or educate themselves if they are confused on the matter if that's what it is.īecause otherwise, customers are going through so many channels to try to figure it out.

"Sorry we don't offer crossgrades / discounts." I just wish some developers would be open and honest about it. Not saying I don't get what you say but singling out Propellerhead or saying its strange or uncommon doesn't really work here.

You don't get the native plugin for free when you buy the UAD version. And you don't get a free synth plugin when you buy the same synth as an iOS app.

You can't say "gimme a discount, I only use the mac version" either. Yes, you do get a Mac and Windows version for most native plugins you buy but then thats exactly what you bought, both a mac and windows version. Same for Windows Store and Apple App Store. Second, you don't get iOS apps for free when you buy the equivalent Android app either. First of all, some developers allow crossgrades, so its technically possible. Normen wrote:How is it strange? Its common practice these days.
